What the Listing Quality score is

Walmart describes Listing Quality as a score that measures your items' quality, shown in the Listing Quality dashboard in Seller Center. Walmart says quality listings drive higher conversion and visibility, and help unlock programs such as the Pro Seller badge.

The five components

ComponentWhat Walmart says it measures
Content qualityYour item name, description, key features and images.
Price competitivenessYour price compared with similar products on external marketplaces.
ShippingYour promised delivery speed across ZIP codes. Items over 50 pounds or listed at $10 or less are not included.
Published and in stockHow often the item was available to customers over the last seven days.
Ratings and reviewsThe number of customer reviews and the average rating.
Not verified on an official page: Walmart does not publish how much each component is weighted in the overall score, so we do not estimate a score here. The tool above checks your title only, which is one input to Content quality.

Walmart product title rules

Walmart's Product Detail Page guide on Marketplace Learn lists what is allowed and prohibited in titles:

  • Allowed: brief titles that do not exceed 150 characters, clear descriptive wording, proper capitalization, and key attribute values such as 5 in, 4 count or 12 oz.
  • Prohibited: all caps, special characters such as ~ ! * $, promotional claims (Walmart's examples include free shipping, hot sale, top rated, premium quality, best-selling, clearance and low price), other retailer names, irrelevant information such as coming soon or out of stock, URLs, non-English text, years unless the content standard calls for them, and repeated keywords.
  • No multiple brands or multiple product types in one title.

The checker tests length, promotional terms, ALL CAPS, special characters and repeated words, and marks the prohibited ones as fails.

Not verified on an official page: Walmart does not state a minimum title length. ListRubric flags titles under 20 characters because Walmart's dashboard can mark a title "Too Short" compared with popular items in your subcategory. An older Walmart optimization guide from 2020 recommended 50 to 75 characters. The current guide only sets the 150 maximum.

How to raise your Content quality

  1. Fix the title first. Brand, product type, and the attributes shoppers filter by, like size, count and color. Keep it under 150 and free of promotional words.
  2. Write real key features. Short, factual points about what the product does and is made of.
  3. Complete the description. Explain uses and specs in full sentences. Avoid copying the key features word for word.
  4. Add quality images. Images are part of Content quality, so follow Walmart's image requirements for your category.
  5. Use the dashboard. Walmart's Listing Quality dashboard lists issues per item and offers a Bulk Attribute Editor to fix content across many items.

Walmart vs. Amazon titles

Walmart allows up to 150 characters, while Amazon now caps titles at 75. If you sell on both, write a 75 character Amazon title and a fuller Walmart title that adds attributes. Check the Amazon version with our Amazon 75 character checker.
