Main image rules
- Pure white background, RGB 255, 255, 255.
- The product fills at least 85% of the image.
- The whole product is in frame, not cropped.
- A real photo, not a drawing or placeholder.
- No text, logos, borders, color blocks, watermarks or other graphics.
- Only what is included in the purchase. No props that could confuse a shopper.
- The product is shown once, from one angle.
- No packaging unless it is an important feature, like a gift box.
Main images that break these rules can get the listing search suppressed. Clothing, jewelry and some other categories have extra rules in their style guides.
How the checker tests your image
The checker loads the file in your browser and reads its pixels. It measures the dimensions, reads the file type, checks how many pixels on the outer edge are exactly white (255, 255, 255), and finds the bounding box of non-white pixels to estimate how much of the frame the product fills. It cannot see text, logos or props, so check those by eye.
Secondary images
Additional images can show the product in use, details, scale, and infographics with text. They should still be at least 1,000 pixels for zoom. Most strong listings use 6 to 9 images including a lifestyle shot and a size reference.
Then grade the rest of the listing with the listing analyzer and the title checker.
