How TikTok Shop judges listing quality
TikTok Shop puts product listings into three quality tiers: Good, Fair and Poor. TikTok says a Good listing can help with higher page views and a better customer experience, and Seller Center shows your listing's quality while you fill in each section.
TikTok's listing quality guide lists title problems that put a listing in the Poor tier. They include repeating words or phrases four or more times, mentioning variants or inventory (for example "8 sizes available" or "Low stock"), and clickbait such as promotions, best seller and exclusivity claims, or discounts.
TikTok Shop product title rules
- Length: 25 to 200 characters. TikTok's product listing guide says titles should be between 25 and 200 characters and describe the product accurately.
- Include key details: brand (with authorization), product type, key features, and size or quantity where it applies.
- Capitalize each word except prepositions, conjunctions and articles.
- Use numerals and abbreviations: "2" not "two", and cm, oz, in, kg.
- State multipack quantity, like "10 ct" or "Pack of 10".
- Put size and color in variations, not in the main title.
- Avoid: your seller name or URL, references to TikTok or other platforms without authorization, special characters and symbols, ALL CAPS, and marketing claims such as "Best Seller", "20% off", "free shipping" or "low stock".
What the checker tests
- Length between 25 and 200 characters, with a warning above 80.
- Promotional and clickbait terms.
- ALL CAPS words and special characters.
- Repeated words, flagged when a word appears four or more times.
- Variant or stock wording such as "available in" or "in stock".
- Mentions of TikTok.
- Capitalization of main words.
A title structure that works
TikTok's "How to Add Products" guide suggests this order: Brand + Product Details + Application + Product Type + Features. For example: Acme Stainless Steel Gym Water Bottle 32 oz with Leak Proof Lid. That puts the brand and product up front, where feed and search views show them.
Beyond the title
TikTok's Good tier also asks for at least five high resolution images, a description over 80 characters or with an image, and all category specific details. The title is the quickest fix, but finish the rest of the listing too.
Selling the same product on Amazon? Its limit is much tighter at 75 characters. Check your Amazon version with the Amazon 75 character checker, or your Walmart one with the Walmart title checker.
