Bullet point formatting
If you use bullet points, TikTok Shop asks you to highlight the top features shoppers weigh, such as target age or audience, warranty information, dimensions, product use and ingredients. Then:
- Begin each bullet point with a capital letter.
- Specify suitable age ranges with numerals.
- State units like quart, inch or feet in full form.
- Indicate the product's source nation.
- Keep company specific information out. Bullets are for product features only.
For products with ingredients, list the complete ingredients from highest to lowest by weight.
What TikTok Shop prohibits in listing text
- Off platform redirects: website links, QR codes, email addresses and contact requests.
- Platform references: "TikTok" without TikTok's prior authorization, or other e-commerce platforms and websites.
- Subjective comments such as Best Seller or Trending Item.
- Marketing and promotions that do not describe the product, such as x% off.
- Letter substitutions: special characters, numbers or other alphabets used in place of letters, such as N!KE.
- Misleading claims about functions, effects, materials or ingredients, including claims to cure or manage a disease.
Why accuracy matters
TikTok Shop's policy says all text and photos must be an accurate and consistent representation of the product. Violations can lead to Account Health Rating point deductions, listing removal or loss of selling privileges. A clean description also gives shoppers the measurements and use details they need to buy without asking.
